The Seminar shall be taught by Vincent Capone, President and Founder of Black Laser Learning, Inc. along with expert guest speakers.

Vince has been conducting search and survey operations utilizing a wide variety of hydrographic and search systems for over 20 years. In the last 10 years he has applied his knowledge of survey systems and skills as an instructor to assisting those in marine technology field. The Black Laser Learning training programs were created to quickly and effectively increase user knowledge of marine equipment, techniques and software. He is an instructor for the US Navy and has taught numerous military and commercial clients such as US EPA, US Army Corps, Irish Navy, Korean Navy and the Archaeology   department at East Carolina University. He has also taught at Dowling College and the Isle of Shoals Marine laboratory.

Using the experience of hundreds of surveys coupled with a sound scientific basis the seminar has the unique combination of practical application information along with pertinent underlying scientific principles. Vince's expertise in magnetometers and subbottom profilers coupled with an extensive knowledge of software and positioning provides the participant with a complete picture of how to successfully utilize these survey tools.

The 3 day course will cover the basics of subbottom profiling and magnetometers utilizing data from all the major manufacturers.   The seminar will include sections on survey planning, data acquisition, data processing as well as data analysis. Participants are welcome to bring data to the seminar for review.

John Gann, Vice President, Chesapeake Technology will lecture on integrating Magnetometer/Subbottom data with side scan sonar information. Doug Hrvoic from Marine Magnetics will guest lecture on the positive and negative aspects of the different types of magnetometers. Rob Morris of Edgetech will compare and contrast single frequency and chirp subbottom systems as well as the effects of different frequencies on data acquisition.
